HOW TO

MAKE A USB DISK IMAGE 'SAFE'
BY USING APPLE'S DISK UTILITY

Create a portable and secure SAFE for your important documents and information. The resulting encrypted .dmg can be easly copied to other drives such as a USB stick.

HERE ARE THE STEPS :

1. Open Disk Utility, then go to New Image > Blank Image

2. In the Dialog Box, name your New Image - for example 'MYSAFE'

3. Also set the following parameters:

Name: MySafe

Size: 100 MB

Format: MS-DOS (FAT)

Encryption: 256-bit AES (Password)

NOTE: Skip Keychain option for maximum security

Partitions: Single - GUID Partition Map

Image Format: Read/Write

4. Click Save.

5. Your new disk image will appear on desktop.

6. Click to open it. Enter Password.

7. You can now add files, images, docs, etc.

8. To close, eject your safe (COM-E) - this essentially locks your SAFE.

9. Your DMG SAFE can be copied to a USB drive, or stored on your HD or deleted by dragging to it to the Trash (then emptying Trash).
