FORCED SHUT DOWN

If everything is frozen up on your screen and nothing can be changed no matter what you attempt, you can FORCE POWER DOWN by holding the power button down until things go black (not you but the computer) - usually within 8-10 secs. After a moment, push the power button again to reboot.

BUILT-IN HELP ON YOUR MAC

At the top of a Mac screen you will find HELP at the end of the FINDER MENU.

When an App is being used, the menu HELP is for that specific app.

Many solutions can be found in the help menu without any need of the internet - all is contained in your Mac OS software.

USE APPLE DIAGNOSTICS

If you think your Mac might have a hardware issue, you can use Apple Diagnostics to help determine which hardware component might be at fault. Read more here.

How to Run Apple Diagnostics on Your Mac:

Apple silicon
1 Press and hold the power button on your Mac. (Every Mac has a power button. On laptop computers that have Touch ID, press and hold Touch ID.)
2 As you continue to hold the power button, your Mac turns on and loads startup options. When you see Options, release the power button.
3 Press and hold Command-D on your keyboard.

Intel processor
1 Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold the D key on your keyboard as your Mac starts up.
2 Release when you see a progress bar or you're asked to choose a language.
If using the D key doesn't work, press and hold Option-D at startup instead.
