After a brief hiatus of several months, we met to 'Reboot' our monthly Mac meetings and to 'brainstorm' some possible future topics, as well as discuss questions and issues related to our Apple devices. It was great to meet face-to-face again with real live people (rather than A.I. or internet voices from far away on a 'Help' line).
How can 'Auto Save' for Pages and TextEdit be turned off in Tahoe? It doesn't seem to be in the same place as previous Operating Sytems.
Go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Scroll down to Windows > check option “Ask to keep changes when closing documents”
Before capturing a screenshot, is there a way to change the default file type from png to jpeg?
Yes
1.Open Utilities > Terminal
2. Copy and paste command below into the Terminal window
3. Press Return
4. Close Terminal
5. Take a screenshot to see the results.
defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpeg
Why do this? If you take a lot of screen shots, it saves several steps in converting file types to smaller-sized files for web use. (Note: you can change jpeg back to png or to gif or tiff).
Read more about above process in Apple discussions here.
Note: Original screencapture preference is located here on your Mac:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screencapture.plist
How can I save a website as a PDF? In Safari, go to your website and then select Safari>File>Export as Pdf. You could also click 'File>Print' and select option 'PDF.' In Firefox go to 'Print' and select 'PDF' in Destination box rather than the printer.
