Create a Temporary Ram Disk (OS9)

1. In the Apple Menu, open Control Panels > Memory.

2. Under Ram Disk, select On.

3. Move slider to set size of Ram Disk (probably a third of total memory would be plenty).

4. Restart computer to launch Ram Disk- it should appear on Desktop.

5. Files of any kind can be saved to the Ram Disk as needed - it can be opened and closed like any folder or disk.

6. When shutting down the computer, any files in the Ram Disk will be lost, so you must copy all files to the HD.

7. To delete the Ram Disk, you must first delete any files in the Ram Disk by dragging them to the Trash. Then empty theTrash.

7. Finally go to Control Panels > Memory and uncheck the Ram Disk.

Note: the advantage of a temporary Ram Disk is that it will process data much faster than using the HD.
