Everyone was invited to share a step-by-step demo of how to do something useful on a Mac.

How to Burn a DVD with Video Transferred from a CamCorder - using a Sony HD camcorder * and iMovie, Jerry gave an informative demo of how to easy it is to 1) transfer digital video from a camera and 2) burn a DVD of the transferred video. Read the steps here.

*One of the amazing features of Jerry's camcorder was its ability to detect smiles while recording and take still pictures automatically.

How to Turn a Folder of Large Photos into Thumbnails and Down-sized Pictures (with a single drag-and-drop) - Tom used the free application JAlbum (version 6.1) running on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. Read the steps here.

How to Create a PowerPoint Presentation (without PowerPoint) - Tom gave a step-by-step demo.

1) OpenOffice.org - FREE - download here.

2) Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac which works very well but sells for around $150 in the Office-For-Mac packages.

3) Keynote - Apple's more elegant and less expensive answer to PowerPoint - $19.99 - download here.

*PowerPoint Tip - when viewing a PPT slideshow, it is possible to mark on the screen by using the pop-up menu at lower left corner > Pointer Options > Pen Color > Red (see example)
